Mission Completed..

The Five Stages of Homer

I just finished making one of the hardest yet still enjoyable cakes yesterday. I was challenged with "Make somthing with either Homer Simpson or Twinkies". So being the creative thinker I am, I was able to create a cake using both! I finished a giant head of Homer Simpson equipped with a thought bubble stating "Mmm...Twinkies" and a tower of 20 twinkies floating on a cloud.

I really enjoyed making the cake even thought there were some set backs and it seemed everybody had enjoyed it as well! I am now trying to get my name out there so I can start making more and more cakes! And maybe just maybe one day I could just be a cake maker! (in my dreams)

I have started a myspace page at www.myspace.com/nothingbakeslikeaparrott to show my cake decorating feats and have named my faux buisness "Nothing Bakes Like a Parrott" (not to be confused with "Things Are Better With A Parrott", Sarah's buisness). So definatly check out with I have done and become friends with me via myspace!

I have a new philosophy. I'm only going to dread one day at a time.

Changes in Attitudes...More Changes in Jobs!

As the Seasons change from Fall to Winter, Halloween came and went as the Princess and Mario painted the town pink with a plunger, the Red Sox went on to win another World Series in four years (I never would have thought I would be able to see the Red Sox win the World Series Title twice in my life, and I am sure many others in Red Sox Nation will agree!), and my cousin Susan got married, allowing us cousins to add a new person to the mix!

When I last wrote I was excited to embark on this new adventure at Scarborough High School and I was excited to have a new change in my life. Well, more change has entered my life and made a small wind storm as I have now got offered and accepted another position for a non-profit organization, following my sister's footsteps. Starting on December 3, I will, again, be embarking on a new path in my life working for MaineTeenTalk.Org as a Educator/Marketer for their Healthy Relationship Initiative. I will be travelling around in the schools of Cumberland County teaching and explaining this Healthy Relationship Initiative. I am very excited to start this new career and finally earn money!

As I am ending a short but very enjoyable chapter in my life and starting anew, I am happy to say my cousin Susan is also started a new chapter in her life this past weekend when she got married to Dave! I am very excited for the both of them and wish them nothing but happiness for the future. They also gave me the ability to flex my culinary and creative skills to help plan the decorations for their wedding and make their wedding cake. I do have to say everything was a success and it looked extremely beautiful. I even impressed myself with the cake and center pieces. I am overjoyed they were able to give me this opportunity to do something I absolutely love to do!

So I end this with hopes for fair weather in the upcoming weeks for new jobs and new lives together, and the hopes for amazing and safe Thanksgiving for everyone!

A New Start to the Same old Jessica

In the past month my life has turned a new page for the best. For the past year and a half I feel I have struggled with school, friendships, relationships, employment, and other aspects of everyday life. But now I feel I am beginning to find a niche in life. I have found the greatest friends in the world, an amazing boyfriend, and I have now been offered a full-time Educational Technician III position at Scarborough High School. I now have my foot in the door in the career I have wanted to do. I will be sad to leave the great people I have met working at InterMed but I am excited to get on with my life! And there is always summer and school vacations.

I also made the life altering decision to adopt a dog. I found Indiana on PetFinder.com and fell in love! My sister, Jay and I drove to Windham, New Hampshire to pick up the bundle of energy on October 6 and every day has been adventure since. He is half chiuaua half daschund and is absolutley adorable!

You can check out Indie's Page:http://www.dogster.com/?652037

I have also started to make cakes and am currently taking a cake making class. I have always been interested in the art of cake making and I have always wanted a productive hobby, so I felt cake making was the best outlet for me! I would really like to start making them for other people (other than my family and friends) so I am trying to build up a portfolio so I can start doing it as a mini-buisness!
